Obedience to Go: Trusting God in Uncertain Seasons
What if the place you least expected to be is the exact ground where God is growing you for what’s next? Today we open up about obeying the nudge to go—even when “go” looks ordinary, uncomfortable, or hidden from public view. From the reality of taking a part-time job to the deeper work of learning who God is to us in hard seasons, we explore how obedience reshapes our timelines, tempers our pride, and teaches us to trust timing over optics.
We walk through three big questions—why this, when does it end, and what comes next—and share how the Holy Spirit forms a quiet knowing when a season is complete. Instead of forcing doors, we talk about waiting for the right open door, the kind that comes with grace, not grind. Along the way, we get practical: how to show up as your authentic self, serve people like you’re serving God, and let the fruit of the Spirit set the tone at work and at home. Excellence in the small becomes a pathway to purpose, and impact looks like consistent love, patience, and peace that people actually miss when you’re not in the room.
You’ll also hear how God confirms mission and vision in due time, often through untapped gifts and newly awakened passion. We name the temptation to rush and replace it with a posture of joy—choosing to delight in the now so we don’t miss what God is doing right here. If you’re navigating career shifts, wrestling with timing, or craving clarity about your next step, this conversation offers grounded encouragement, spiritual discernment, and simple practices you can carry into tomorrow morning.
If this spoke to you, share it with a friend, hit follow, and leave a quick review so more people can find the show. What’s your next faithful step you’re taking this week?

About Me: LEARN MORE HERE
Hi and welcome back to another episode of Position for Purpose Conversations with Lily. I'm your host and I'm so excited to be with you this week. I wanna give a shout out to all those persons who messaged me on the last episode that dropped your overwhelming um just thoughts and the messages has been truly a blessing as I walk through this season. And I'm gonna thank um staff for our family and Natalie for that gentle push. And all my sisters who have reached out to encourage and to tell me about their own stories that they have been there, they understand and that they are praying for me. I truly, truly appreciate you. As a follow-up to last week, I want to talk to you this week about the obedience to go, the obedience to go. I felt in my spirit that I should have a follow-up based on what I spoke on on the last time, just talking about having to be taking up another part-time job at this point in time, and just walking it out. And so, what came to my thoughts is obedience to go, obedience to go, and can I tell you, my sisters, it doesn't matter how it looks now, it's God who is fulfilling his purpose through you, through us, and so even as we think about God asking us to make us step into a place that we never thought that we would ever go, do something that we didn't think that we would ever do, and thought we had no capacity to do it, God requires us to go anyhow. It might not look a glamorous, it might not look like anything that God has his hands on. But can I tell you something? He does, he has his hands and on it, and what he wants is for us to be obedient and go. Because if we say we are trusting God, if we believe that before we know that all things work together for good, where God is sending you, you have to believe that it's going to work out for your good as well. And so you may be asking, why do I have to be in this place? Why does I why do I have to be in this place where it feels uncomfortable when it feels like I am out of my depth and I don't know what to do? Can I tell you? It is that because in that place God is producing something through you, you have to learn something about you and who God is during this season. And I know that it is not easy when we talk about what is God producing in me, and I might have shared with you last week. And if you didn't, I want to tell you, I had a conversation with someone yesterday, and she was asking me how was it going? And I was sharing with her that it is going good, but I know that I cannot run away from where I'm at. I said I know without a shadow of a doubt that God is teaching me something in this place, and that is just not me just saying that to sound good or to sound holier, to sound spiritual and very Christianist. No, that's not it. I know because there's something he's working on my heart with, and I'm saying I said to her, Listen, I'm asking why am I taking so long to learn this lesson? Because I know it, right? I know it is, and so each day I have to ask him for his help for me to learn the lesson. Not so much that I can run away from where I'm at, because in learning this lesson for what he's preparing me for, I definitely will have to truly know what God is teaching me in the moment and who God is to me in this moment while I'm learning. Who is he being? As in be my father, my teacher, my source, the one who is gifting me with wisdom. Because learning about me is one. I must be able to learn about God in this moment. And that's what my encouragement to you today is as you are learning what God is teaching you, also learn something about God because where we're going and what God is producing within us, it would be good to not not only know about ourselves, but to know what God is teaching us in that season as well. And so you may also ask, when do I know when this season is over for me to move on? Can I tell you without the shadow of a doubt, we will know. We will know. I believe something within you and something within me, something within us will let us know when this is over. It's almost as if, you know, sometimes if you if you cook or you bake and you might be just putting in some seasoning, like you just know what the right amount is, and you know how it is going to taste when it is done. You're not second-guessing yourself, you don't need someone else to come and tell you that your season is done, that this season is over. I believe the Holy Spirit will just deposit something within us, like a knowing, and knowing that this season is over. And I want to encourage you as well, don't be running through wanting to be quickly learning a lesson so that you can run on to the next. No, it's almost like you have to savor it, savor the moment, savor the moment, right? And when you know that it's it's it's also not to keep, not to leap immediately because this season don't immediately leap when you feel you know that the season is over, is what I'm saying. Don't immediately leap because the season has been long and you want to get over it, but waiting for the opportunity and the open doors to move is what is going to be key for you to trust God's timing, trust his timing, and you know I know all about that in this new season because to be honest, I really want to learn the lesson so I can move on to the next. But what I felt, and I may have said it then, but I know I definitely said it to my sister after church yesterday. I don't want to be rushing out of this. There are opportunities that I know would present themselves. I want to know that I know that I know that I know that Lord is saying this season is over and it's time for you now to move on, and that I'll clearly see the open doors, not wanting to go and create a door for myself. Because sometimes we do that because we're so desperate to come out of this season that we want to go and open a door or force a door open when God is saying, just sit awhile, just wait, because what I am producing in you and what I have for you, it doesn't mean you're gonna run out of this season because it's at the it has been long or it has been hard, but trust my timing and trust what I'm producing within you so that when you are ready for that next when that next door opens, you know that it is me who is opening and you are prepared, you are prepared and ready to serve in the way that I have called you to serve and and worship me in the next season as well. And then finally, you may be asking, What will you do in this next season? Can I tell you something? God will confirm the mission to you and the vision, and you will know deep within you a knowing, a feeling that this is what God has called me to do. You'll notice that you have a passion for it, it's something that He's equipped you for. It may be a gift untapped by you, but God already knew all about it. Right? So you may be asking about the why, the what, and the when, but it all ties up in your obedience to move when God says to move into a season where you're you you don't know anything more than to trust him and to know that he will not lead you astray, knowing that God walks beside you in this journey. So even as I'm walking this journey out and I'm seeking for ways to be reminded that in this season I must be showing up as my authentic self. I must be showing up wanting to serve the people of God as if I'm serving God Himself with a smile, with an attitude of grace and and love and joy that my presence where I'm at must be missed when I'm not there. People must talk about me when I have left because I must make an impact. And sometimes we forget about that that God has called us to make an impact, He's called us to make a difference where we are serving and who we are serving. They must know us by your love, and our fruit must always show, and our fruit must be one of patience, of love, of peace, of understanding. So let's not go into a season in a place where it didn't feel right, it doesn't look like this is where God wants, and the feeling as if you're all of this and a bag of chips, and everyone should just acknowledge who you are. No, instead, go into that season knowing that God has called you to it, knowing that God is working out his purposes for your life through this season. And if we are faithful in serving him in the small, then he knows that he can trust us with the more. And so, wherever you are now, trust that God knows right where you are. He sees, he knows, he understands that you do not like where you are. That sounds like me, don't it? Yes, he understands that you don't like where you are. But can I tell you something? It's a lesson that I've been learning as I'm going, that I have to learn over time to enjoy where I am. It makes no sense being sad and mopi and being annoyed. No, it's not showing good fruit at all. But let us let us over time enjoy where we are at, because it's also showing another part of who God is. Let's have joy, and as I speak that to you, I'm speaking it to myself that when I show up to work tomorrow, even from tonight, I'm asking the Holy Spirit for his joy, for his peace, for his patience, for his understanding, for his meekness, for his humility, for his long suffering, to show up in everything that I will have to do and make my day light and my burden light as I go through. So finally, I want to say to you, don't be so focused on the next so that you missed so that you miss what's happening in the now. Don't be so focused on the next that you miss what's happening in the now. For we know that all things work together for good to them that love God and are the called according to his purpose. I love you, my sister friends. Walk good and enjoy your day. Let me pray for you. Father, I thank you that obedience is better than sacrifice. And I pray this morning, Spirit of the Living God, as you'll speak to us about Lord the next season of our lives and instructing us to go. May we be clear, Lord God, in knowing that it is you who is sending us. And though it might not be what we are expecting, but to know that you are in the midst of us. I pray that you'll strengthen my sister as she moves in obedience, Almighty God, to do whatever you have called her to do, Lord God. Lord, I pray that you will just strengthen her as you go. I pray that you will fill her up with your joy, with your peace, with your patience, and with your word, and moreover, with your presence. Almighty God. I thank you, Lord God, for who you are to us, Almighty God, and have been and will forever be, Lord God. And I thank you that where we are now, you are you've already been there just waiting on us to show up. We bless you this morning. We honor you in Jesus' name. I pray with thanksgiving. Amen and amen. Can I ask you if this podcast has been a blessing to you?
